To use the online services available through the Patient Access website you must first register at the Surgery and obtain a registration letter which includes a password and username. The system works in a similar way to online banking in that you are provided with a secure PIN and password. Please note you can only register yourself for this service and not any family members or friends and you must be 16 or over to have an account created.
Registering for Patient Access
To register you will need to visit reception ideally between 2pm and 4pm, although we are open between 8am and 6pm. You will need to provide us with a form of photographic identification such as a driving licence or passport so that we can verify your identity. If you do not have a form of photographic ID we will accept a recent utility bill, such as an electricity bill or bank statement.
If you are housebound and therefore unable to visit the Surgery yourself to provide a form of photographic ID please contact the surgery to discuss further.
A registration letter will then be created at reception for you which will include a PIN number, practice ID, Access ID and your NHS number. All of these details will be needed to create your Patient Access account.
To complete the registration process you will then need to visit the Patient Access website.
Booking and Cancelling Appointments Online
All advance appointments with the practice GPs will be available to book online. Depending upon availability appointments are offered up to 4 weeks in advance. Appointments with the nursing team will not be made available online as each appointment is a different length depending upon which service is required.
If you require an appointments on the day because you have an urgent medical problem you will still be required to telephone the practice. Our telephone lines are open from 8am. Similarly, if you require a home visit or a telephone call you will need to telephone the practice.
The Patient Access website will allow you to have up to 2 booked appointments at any one time and you can book appointments 1 day ahead or 4 weeks ahead depending upon availability.
You are also able to cancel any doctors appointments that you have made either online or in the Surgery through the Patient Access website.
Ordering Prescriptions Online
You will be able to order your medications online through the Patient Access website. When you log in you will see the same list of repeat medications as the staff at the Surgery see. To order the items that you require simply click in the box to the left of the medication. There is also a message box available if you wish to send a message to the reception staff about any of your medications. If you need to order a medication that is not on your repeats list please type a message in this box.
Please be reassured that all online prescriptions are processed within the same time frame as all other prescription requests. If you provide us with your request before 11am it will be ready the following working day after 2pm. However, the Patient Access website will display the most recent date of issue next to each medication so please keep in mind that although the prescription may have been issued by our receptionists it may not have been signed by a doctor. To ensure that your prescription is ready for collection when you need it please order in plenty of time and allow 2 working days for it to be processed.
Please note - if you currently use the online prescription service offered through this website you will need to register to use the new Patient Access service by the 31/12/2013.
Updating your Contact Details
You are able to update your address, telephone numbers and email address through the Patient Access website. This will send a message to the Surgery where one of our receptionists will update your record accordingly.
All information that is sent beween the Surgery and Patient Access website is secure. Your personal details are encrypted and protected using the highest standard internet security so it cannot be intercepted. Only you and your GP Surgery can see any details on the Patient Access website.
